Memphis Monday: Metal Museum & the Mississippi River

The Memphis Urban Sketchers visited the Metal Museum last Saturday, when there was still snow on the ground but it was bright and sunny and almost warm. It was the perfect day for sketching the river! I also sketched in the smithy - see more here.

The other sketchers and I discussed how hard it is to convey the river in sketches. It's so big that it's difficult to indicate the boundaries of it. All you can really do is imply it with a bridge or boats.
