The Memphis Urban Sketchers went to the Bass Pro Shop in June. It was... quite an experience! It's a fascinating thing to see. The best part is the restaurant/bar with the observation deck. This is the bar, and it was my only decent sketch of the day. Here are some more pictures from our visit.

Sketching at the Dixon
The Dixon invited me to be a guest instructor at their Friday open studios. It was a rainy day, but we managed to get a few good sketches in.
If you have a chance, visit the gardens for the Jun Kaneko exhibit, and for the succulents that they have in the garden and the conservatory. Equally lovely.

Sketching Dinner
Martha Kelly and I met in Overton Square recently to eat and sketch and talk about sketching. There is so much to sketch there! It's so busy with people that I made myself add some to my sketch - click on the image to see more detail. Here are Martha's sketches.

Studio Night Sketches not from the Studio
I was all set to have a for-real serious Studio Night, when my friend who had been out of town for weeks asked a bunch of us to get together, and I just couldn't say no!
So, I made sure to do some sketching to make it a little more like studio time.

Memphis Monday: The View from Sean's Cafe
I love Sean's Cafe on Union! Go there and have some fantastic hummus and falafel and babaganoush, and watch the traffic go by as you wait for your food!

Supply Sunday: Hi-Tec-C Coleto 4
Do yourself a favor and go to jetpens.com and order a Hi-Tec-C pen and a variety of ink colors to go in it. It's so great for sketching! I did the bottom right one while filling my car up with gas.

Art Talk
In May I gave an art talk to the group Artists' Link. They were lovely! They bought me dinner and everything!
I have gotten used to giving talks, and I love talking aboutmyself art, so I wasn't nervous necessarily, but I do like to make some calming sketches before speaking. So that's what these are - calming sketches.
