Memphis Monday: Stax Museum

Oh my goodness, it really doesn't get any more Memphis than this. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music is on the spot where the original Stax Records was located. Think you don't know what that means? You do - here are just a few artists who recorded there: Otis Redding, Booker T and the MGs, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave, The Staple Singers, just to name a few.

The tour begins with a touching film about the history of Stax, before you wander through the museum to see artifacts and to hear some of the greatest music - The. Greatest. Music. - to come out of the U.S.

The folks at the museum were very welcoming to the Memphis Urban Sketchers. We had a great time and stayed even longer than we had planned because there was so much to see and so much to sketch. I can't wait to go back!
