Sketching at the Farmers Market

At 10am it was already about a thousand degrees outside, and therefore I should have put more thought into planning out my sketches. Instead of more involved sketches, it would have been a better idea to do a series of very quick sketches. I was a little ambitious, thinking my sheer will to sketch would make me less hot. I have never sweat so much sitting still.

I wish I'd had a chance to put color in this one - so much color.

Leaving Portland

Certainly you did not think I was finished with Portland!

As you can tell, I was very inspired by the Urban Sketchers Symposium, and I just kept sketching all day as I traveled home. Here is Gail's store, Art Media, right across from the light rail station:

I took the light rail, "The Max," to the airport because it is soooo cheap.

While xanax takes care of my phobia of flying, it doesn't totally knock out my flying-related superstitions, so I couldn't bring myself to sketch the plane like so many others did, so here's the baggage cart:

I did these over July 4 weekend while visiting with my family and celebrating my grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary.

I did this one under the close watch of 2 of my nieces, Harper and Genevieve. They made sure I did not forget anything.

Harper and Genevieve were watching me do this one, too. They really wanted me to put some apples in that tree. And a horse.

Urban Sketchers Symposium Day 3, Part 2

Urban Composition with Veronica Lawlor - also International Sketch Crawl Day (I think that's what it's called)

Started with some thumbnails

Final sketch of the symposium: Pacific Northwest College of Art

I drew this in the shade (the sun came out!), surrounded by about 8 or 10 people also sketching in complete but comfortable silence. It was a great way to end the sketching.
